Do not confuse it with rocks, look for the red/brown glow like you can see on the tips of the material in this image. The image below will help you identify it more easily. From a distance, clay almost has a reddish colour glow coming from it. PlanetĬlay is hard to spot sometimes due to it looking like standard rocks and soil that appear naturally.

You are gonna have to make a lot of round-trips to different planets in order to collect resources like iron and tungsten, but once you're able to invest in a bigger shuttle, you'll have a much easier time moving from planet to planet.

You might walk across clay and not even notice it. The biggest problem with clay is that it looks like a plain rock that you see around the planet normally. It will often be in smaller batches which makes it a little difficult to gather large amounts of it for crafting.
It will appear on the surface as brown triangular shaped rocks that look a bit like mud. There are a few dangerous plants like popcoral, but these plants won’t hurt you if you leave them alone. Sylva is a fairly calm and hazard free planet. All new games will result in the player landing on this planet. Where To Find ClayĬlay can be found on all planets in the game in different amounts. Novus Glacio Atrox Sylva is the starting planet in Astroneer. Due to the colour, it can often be difficult to find when you are out exploring. Clay is a resource that may seem useless at first but when you need it, it is one of those resources that you can never seem to find.
